The Vice President for Academic Partnerships at Odessa College plays a critical role in fostering this culture, and is seen as an individual capable of becoming a national leader in education.

The Vice President for Academic Partnerships serves a critical role in the development and growth of programs and relationships throughout the Odessa College service area. Reporting directly to the college President, and with direct oversight of the college’s dual credit, recruitment and outreach, extension site operations, academic advising and support.  The Vice President for Academic Partnerships is responsible for working with community leaders and partners to identify needs, and opportunities for growth of OC programs throughout the service area. The Vice President for Academic Partnerships serves as a strategic thought leader who develops and provides a broad range of public relations activities and strategic communications on behalf of the Office of the President and the institution at large.

Specific Position Duties

  • Serves as a member of the President’s Administrative Council;
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community leaders and key community stakeholders in order to increase the college’s presence and operations throughout the service area; 

  • Serves as the communication hub between Odessa College and the community, including school districts and community leaders throughout the service area; 

  • Works closely with OC leadership to ensure resources are adequate to support program growth and agreed upon standards for excellence; 

  • Provides regular reports to the college’s Administration Team on the strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities for OC’s dual credit program and extension areas; 

  • Develops and updates, as necessary, an annual strategic plan that includes a practical vision and achievable, measurable goals for the dual credit program, extension areas, recruitment and advising; 

  • Travels to communities throughout the college’s service area and maintains personal communications with school district and community partners; 

  • Develops and maintains strategies for enrollment and college growth;
  • Develops strategies and implementation to support college academic advising and support services;

  • Develops strategies to support recruitment and outreach; 

  • Supports the College by regularly participating in various activities and programs involving students, staff and the community; 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited university;

Strong communication & interpersonal skills including both verbal and written communications; 

Demonstrated ability to manage fiscal and personnel resources, to establish priorities and to provide effective leadership and direction; Commitment to shared governance and participatory leadership; 

Demonstrated experience in a leadership position at a K-12 or a post-secondary institution or equivalent;
 
Instructional administration experience;

Documented ability to provide leadership in achieving meaningful institutional objectives
Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the comprehensive community college;

Commitment to collaborate with all components of the College to ensure student success.  

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate preferred
