Summary of Position

The services in the Counseling Center are offered free of charge to all Plymouth State University undergraduate and graduate students. Our staff are a diverse group of mental health professionals regarding both theoretical orientation and professional discipline/background. Our clinical work is rooted in a multidisciplinary team approach, with close communication and
collaboration among our staff and with other departments on campus and other providers in the community.

This position will provide individual and group psychological counseling and crisis response to students, consultation to faculty and staff, campus outreach and support other counseling center needs and projects as appropriate.

Coordinates Counseling Center’s work with Alcohol and Other Drugs tasks.

Other minimum qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology or related discipline, and two years of full-time licensed counseling experience in a mental health agency or counseling center.
  • NH License or license eligible as a mental health professional.
  • Computer skills as required by department for necessary reporting and electronic communications.
  • Exemplary written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialization and/or certification (LADC, Disordered Eating Specialist, EMDR, etc.)
  • Technologically Adept: proficient in Microsoft Office 365, experience with or a willingness to learn Titanium, CCAPS and time management software.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion.
  • Recent and relevant clinical experience with students, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Provides individual and group counseling.
  • Consultation services to faculty and staff regarding psychological issues which adversely affect the mental health of students.
  • Participation in emergency on-call rotation.
  • Participation in individual supervision/consultation with director and presentation at clinical/medical staff meetings.
  • Provide outreach and support for campus as needed/requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director (committees, projects, etc.).

Duty/Responsibility

  • This position also includes the added alcohol and other drug (AOD) responsibilities, which involves the following.
  • Serve as Counseling Center liaison to the Frost House/Conduct Office for planning and facilitation of BASICS/IMPACT, AOD assessment referrals, and research related to student AOD use.
  • Serve as Counseling contact for First Light Web Services, software for the BASICS/IMPACT.
  • Conduct BASICS/IMPACT and AOD evaluations with students, as referred by Frost House/Conduct Office and court order.
  • Train staff and interns as indicated in BASICS service delivery.
  • Serve as PSU representative to the NH Higher Education on Alcohol and Other Drugs committee (NHHEAOD). Research campus AOD use and patterns.
  • Coordinate related AOD programing and outreach (e.g. classroom presentations, first-year orientation).
  • Maintain documents on the shared drive to support completion of assessments and reporting for students court ordered for AOD services.
  • Ensure that as a NH Master Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (MLADC), that provider has necessary supervision to maintain licensure.
