Mentor: Dr. Glenn C. Rowe  opens a new website, Division of Cardiovascular Disease

A postdoctoral position is available in the Division of Cardiovascular Disease in the laboratory of Dr. Glenn C. Rowe. The project aims to identify the molecular mechanisms that contribute to skeletal muscle atrophy in response to mitochondrial dysfunction. The project will utilize a combination of genetic and surgical models, as well as pharmacological interventions to dissect the contribution of FGF signaling to the development of muscle atrophy.  The applicant will develop extensive training in the area of skeletal muscle biology and mitochondrial function.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

1. Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Physiology, Biochemistry or a related field.
2. The ideal candidate should be creative, highly motivated, able to work independently as well as in a collaborative team, good communication skills and have a record of research accomplishments.

Preferences

1. Experience in rodent handling and survival surgeries.
2. Experience in basic molecular biology and cell culture techniques.
3. Experience in working with translational models.
4. Experience in writing and publishing research articles.
